The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.
Applications are now open and may shut on 15 December 2024.
*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding
To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must satisfy the following criteria:
• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home which has a combined gross household earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.
• People with disabilities qualify if their combined domestic income will not exceed R600 000 per annum.
• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not submit any proof of income.
*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle
The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent people from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.
Applicants are reminded to deliver the proper Identification Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored of their South African ID.
NSFAS only funds people who are learning or intend to research at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.
All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for nsfas status NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
